We don’t always agree about politics, etc.  But I saw the item below, and can honestly say I agree with it wholeheartedly.  If people want to come here and be Americans, I welcome them.  If they want to come here and still hold allegiance to some other credo, then I say that they are entitled to their beliefs, but their right to swing their arm ends where someone else’s nose begins.  (I might add:  if their belief system is so great, why are they coming here?)

This is about as Republican as I can get, and I know that many of you will get a good laugh out of this!

Watching TV a moment ago, there was a documentary about Branch Rickey and Jackie Robinson.  Then there was a bit about the assassination of the Kennedys.   I want to say publicly that I stand with the Branch Rickeys, Jackie Robinsons, Kennedys, and everyone else who favor equal rights for all Americans.   It is still a goal…. all we can do is our part.

Best wishes and love to you all!

The year is 1907, one hundred and 8 years ago.

Theodore Roosevelt’s ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

‘In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language.. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.’
